London City Helps Student Reach Out To Kenya

Children In Kenya Show Their London City Pride!

London City Soccer Club recently had the opportunity to lend a helping hand to a York University student traveling to Kenya.  Ilona Waszkowski, sister of Jacob who played with London City during the 2009 season, traveled to Kenya with other York students who were completing their Bachelor of Education degrees.

London City Soccer Club recently had the opportunity to lend a helping hand to a York University student traveling to Kenya.  Ilona Waszkowski, sister of Jacob who played with London City during the 2009 season, traveled to Kenya with other York students who were completing their Bachelor of Education degrees.

Ryan Gauss, C.E.O. and General Manager of
London City expressed his absolute eagerness to support such a worthwhile initiative.

"Knowing Ilona for the past twenty-years I wanted to support her and the project in
Kenya as much as we could.  Sending over new soccer equipment and the necessary gear was the least we could do, and really it was nothing.  What Ilona and her friends have done should be commended.  They should all really take pride in their hard work."

Waszkowski and her group were building a school during their stay and interacting with many of the local youth.  She indicated the recent trip left a lasting impact.

"Visiting
Kenya changed my life, and I hope that everyone will take the opportunity to visit Africa and lend a helping hand.  Remember if you are not able to travel there you can always help by making a donation or spreading the word.  Everyone can make a difference!"

London City has committed to helping these type of ventures and encourages our fans and supporters to contact the office when embarking on such initiatives.

"It is our goal to help make our community a better place, whether that is in
London or around the world."  Gauss said.  "We will do our very best to help anyone who is giving up their time to help others."

London City's charity partner in London is the Bethanys Hope Foundation.
