London City and the Serbian White Eagles played to a 1-1 tie at Cove Road Field on Friday night, in front of another impressive crowd.City (1-1-1) fell behind early when Uros Stamatovic opened the scoring for the White Eagles just 3 minutes into the game. Stamatovic drove the ball past London keeper Scott Mueller from 6 yards.
Though it took London a little time to settle, they tied the game on a picture goal by midfielder Thomas Beattie at 28 minutes - the goal was Beattie's second of the early season. Kevin Zimmermann was taken down just outside the 18-yard box and Beattie stepped up and struck an unbelievable free kick, a drive that left Serbian Eagles’ goalkeeper Milos Kocic with no chance on the save.
