London City looked to rebound from their 4-0 loss against the Serbian White Eagles a week earlier, when the North York Astros arrived for a Friday night encounter at the beautiful Cove Road Field.

Though London City looked great for the first 30 minutes, and dictated the play it was the Astros who struck first.  Mahyar Kohbad - the CSL leading goal scorer, struck first for the visitors at the 35th minute mark as he capitalized on a City defensive lapse and shot a rocket from the top of the six-yard box into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead, a score that held to half time.

The London side has now given up the first goal in all six games they have played this season.

In the second half City pushed for the equalizer and had several chances that were squandered, and that came back to haunt North America's oldest professional soccer team as the Astros were rewarded a penalty kick in the 52nd minute.  It was a foul by City's Cody Workman that saw Referee Geoff Gamble point to the spot.  Mahyar Kohbad stepped up and knocked it passed London's keeper Scott Mueller, who guessed the right way but saw the ball drift just out of his reach.

Even down 2-0 City made the push to grab a goal back and in doing so Kevin Zimmermann hit the cross bar, Tom Beattie's header into the open net stayed out and a goal chance was cleared off the line.
With those chances come and gone North York once again capitalized on a dejected London side to score in the 81st minute.  Erik Grigore broke through the City defense and scored from the top of the six yard box.

London will not have much time to regroup as the club will be back in action this Sunday against the Brampton Lions (1-7-1).  Though the Lions are last place in the Canadian Soccer League, the GTA side always has a strong group of players and we will be looking to climb out of the basement.
